Donwood’s Cost Summary & Fees

The Australian Government provides the primary funding for aged care services however, there are some fees that must be contributed by the residents. These fees are determined by government bodies and you can find more information about how these are decided on the My Aged Care website. Below is a breakdown of the fees required for residency at Donwood.

Entry Fees

The entry fee is a lump sum accommodation payment of approximately $550,000-$600,000. We are committed to making aged care an accessible service and as such, have multiple methods of payment for this fee.

First, there is a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD). This would be paying the total fee upfront and it is typically refunded once you leave the residency.

Second, there is the Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP). This is the total fee, split into daily costs and charged monthly; making it more affordable for many to access our services.

Finally, there is a combination of both RAD and DAP payments. If you can afford part of the RAD upfront you can make that payment and split the remainder into DAP payments to be paid over the course of your residency. Residents have 28 days to choose how to pay their entry contribution. Fully supported residents who have been recognised as having reduced financial means may not be required to pay the entry fees.

Daily care fees

All of our residents, including those in respite care, are required to pay the daily care fees. These fees equate to around 85% of a basic single age pension and are there to cover your daily needs; such as cleaning, utilities, laundry and meals. This fee may increase twice a year – in March and September.

Donwood does not benefit from these fees, they are a co-contribution from any resident who is deemed to have adequate financial support. There is a yearly cap and a lifetime cap, which is indexed yearly, after which point you will only be required to pay your daily care and remaining entry fees. For more details, please see the Fee Schedule below.
