The Australian Government provides the primary funding for aged care services however, there are some fees that must be contributed by the residents.

Donwood’s Cost Summary & Fees

​Aged care services in Australia are primarily funded by the Australian Government, but residents are required to contribute to the cost of their care and accommodation. These fees are set or regulated by government authorities, and are based on individual financial circumstances.

Donwood Room Pricing

Deluxe Rooms – $700,000

Superior Rooms – $750,000

Payment Options

You can choose to pay your accommodation costs as:

• A lump sum refundable deposit that is refunded when you leave care, less any retention amounts and any fees that you agree to draw down from the RAD.

• A daily payment calculated at MPIR as determined by Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is not refunded when you leave care, (DAP – Indexed twice yearly) or

• Any combination of lump sum and daily payment – (RAD/DAP)

Note: Residents assessed as fully supported —with limited financial means—may not be required to pay an accommodation cost.

Partially supported residents may be required to contribute towards their accommodation cost by paying a RAC/DAC fee.

This is determined by Services Australia during the financial assessment process.

Daily care fees

All of our residents, including those in respite care, are required to pay this fee. This fee is set at 85% of the basic single Age Pension. The Daily Care Fee (DCF) of $66.80 currently applies. Prices are effective as of March, 2026.

It helps cover everyday living expenses such as:

• Meals

• Cleaning

• Laundry

• Utilities

The daily care fee is reviewed and may increase twice a year—in March and September, in line with changes to the Age Pension.

Hotelling Contribution

People who can afford to will contribute more towards their daily living costs through a hotelling contribution.

Services Australia will tell you if you need to pay a hotelling contribution and if so, how much you need to pay. This is based on your means assessment. The maximum amount changes with indexation in March and September.

Non-Clinical Care Contribution

People who need to pay the maximum hotelling contribution may also need to pay a non-clinical care contribution. This fee contributes to personal care costs such as bathing and mobility assistance.

It is a government-assessed co-contribution, required only from those with the financial capacity to support part of their care costs.

Daily and lifetime caps apply.
